About
We teach courses, not subjects.
Academy X Canada exists because most tutoring is built around subjects and most students fail inside courses. A student doesn’t lose marks in “chemistry.” They lose them in SCH4U equilibrium, three weeks before the unit test.
Our approach
Ontario runs one of the most structured secondary systems in the world. Every course has a code, a curriculum document, a prerequisite chain and a defined place in university admissions. That structure is a gift to anyone willing to teach inside it — and it is largely ignored by tutoring companies who advertise “math help” and match students to whoever is free.
We do the opposite. Classes are organised by course code. Students are grouped with others taking the same course at the same point in it. Teachers are assigned because they have taught that course, repeatedly, and know which units cause trouble before the student gets there.
Why small classes rather than one-to-one
One-to-one is not automatically better. In a batch of three, a student hears two other people’s questions — including the ones they were too embarrassed to ask. They also get a fixed weekly commitment, which does more for a struggling student than an on-demand session that quietly stops being booked. We offer one-to-one where it’s genuinely the right call, and we’ll say so when it isn’t.
What we don’t do
We don’t write students’ assignments, essays, Internal Assessments or Extended Essays. We don’t promise specific mark increases, because nobody honest can. And we don’t grant credits — your child earns those at their own school, and our job is to make sure they earn better ones.
Where we are
