We hire by course code, not by subject. If you can teach MCV4U unit by unit, or take a student through an IB Internal Assessment properly, we want to hear from you — and we’ll keep you on that course rather than shuffling you between whatever needs covering.

What we look for

NEEDED Essential
- A degree in the subject, or equivalent professional experience
- Real familiarity with the specific Ontario course — its units, its assessments, where students lose marks
- Clear spoken English and the patience to explain something a third way
- A reliable connection, a quiet space, and a device that can share a screen and write on it
- Reliability. Students and parents plan around your slot.
PLUS An advantage
- Ontario College of Teachers registration
- Previous experience teaching the course in an Ontario school
- IB teaching or examining experience
- Experience with IEPs and accommodations
- Availability at times that suit students outside Canada
A note on what the job is not
We do not write students’ assignments, essays, Internal Assessments or Extended Essays, and we do not help anyone else do so. If that is the work you are looking for, this is not the right place.

Include in the email
- Your CV as a PDF attachment.
- The exact course codes you can teach, and how recently you have taught each.
- Your availability — days and times, and your time zone.
- Your OCT number, if you have one.
- A short paragraph on one topic students find hard in a course you teach, and how you explain it.
That last point matters more than the rest of the CV. It tells us in thirty seconds whether you teach or whether you recite.
What happens next
We review applications weekly. Shortlisted candidates are asked to teach a 20-minute sample lesson on a topic of their choice from a course they have listed — not a formal interview, just a demonstration of how you explain something. Successful candidates start with a small number of hours and grow from there.

Do I need to be an Ontario Certified Teacher?
OCT registration is an advantage and we will ask about it, but it is not a requirement. What matters most is that you know the specific Ontario course well enough to teach it unit by unit, and that you can explain it clearly to a struggling student.
Is this remote work?
Yes. All classes are taught live online, so you can teach from anywhere as long as you have a reliable connection and a quiet space.
How many hours would I teach?
It varies by subject and season. Most teachers start with two to six hours a week and grow from there. Demand peaks around report cards in November, February and April, and before final examinations.
When do classes run?
Mornings, evenings and weekends, on Eastern Time. Tell us your availability and we will build around it. We also run classes at times that suit students in other time zones, which can suit teachers who are not in Canada.
What is the pay?
Hourly, paid per class taught, and discussed at interview. It depends on the course level, whether the class is one-to-one or a batch, and your experience with that specific course.
Do I need my own teaching material?
No. We provide the course structure, lesson sequence and practice sets, aligned with the Ontario curriculum. You are welcome to bring your own material on top of that.
