ENG4U tutoring — English — University Preparation

Almost every Ontario university programme requires ENG4U, which makes it the one course nearly all Grade 12 applicants carry. It is also the course where marks move most slowly, because writing improves through feedback cycles rather than content revision.

What ENG4U covers

  • Literary analysis of prose, poetry and drama
  • The independent study unit (ISU)
  • Analytical and argumentative essay writing
  • Research and academic citation
  • Oral presentation and media analysis

Prerequisite

ENG3U

Where the marks go

The independent study unit and timed analytical writing. The ISU is a long-horizon task that students underestimate until it is late, and timed essays reward a planning method most students have never been explicitly taught.

How we teach ENG4U

A weekly 60-minute live class with a batch of three students, all taking ENG4U and all at roughly the same point in it. We follow the Ontario school calendar, so the class covers the unit your child’s teacher is covering. Cadence doubles in the four weeks before a final.

How it works
