MCR3U tutoring — Functions — University Preparation

MCR3U is the hinge of the Ontario mathematics sequence. It is the prerequisite for both MHF4U and MDM4U, and a weak result here narrows Grade 12 options before the student has really begun applying to university.

What MCR3U covers

  • Characteristics of functions and transformations
  • Quadratic functions and their applications
  • Exponential functions and growth
  • Trigonometric ratios and functions
  • Discrete functions, sequences and series
  • Financial applications of sequences

Prerequisite

MPM2D

Where the marks go

Trigonometry and exponential functions. These arrive after the quadratics work most students find comfortable, and the pace increase catches out anyone who has been keeping up by memorising rather than understanding.

How we teach MCR3U

A weekly 60-minute live class with a batch of three students, all taking MCR3U and all at roughly the same point in it. We follow the Ontario school calendar, so the class covers the unit your child’s teacher is covering. Cadence doubles in the four weeks before a final.

How it works

Four steps, one week.

Tell us the course
