Grade 12 · Ontario curriculum
MHF4U tutoring — Advanced Functions
MHF4U is the backbone of Grade 12 mathematics. It is a prerequisite or corequisite for MCV4U and is required by most university STEM and commerce programmes, which makes it one of the most common Top 6 courses in Ontario.
What MHF4U covers
- Polynomial functions and their characteristics
- Rational functions, asymptotes and discontinuities
- Exponential and logarithmic functions and laws
- Trigonometric functions, identities and equations
- Combining and transforming functions
- Rates of change as preparation for calculus
Prerequisite
MCR3U
Where the marks go
Trigonometric identities and rational functions. Identities require pattern recognition built over many worked problems, not a formula sheet. Rational function questions are usually lost in the setup, before any algebra begins.
How we teach MHF4U
A weekly 60-minute live class with a batch of three students, all taking MHF4U and all at roughly the same point in it. We follow the Ontario school calendar, so the class covers the unit your child’s teacher is covering. Cadence doubles in the four weeks before a final.
How it works
Four steps, one week.
Tell us the course

We confirm the slot
Within one business day, matched to the class already working at your child’s point in the course.
