Grade 10 · Ontario curriculum
MPM2D tutoring — Principles of Mathematics — Academic
MPM2D is the Grade 10 course that quietly decides the next two years. It is the prerequisite for MCR3U, which is the prerequisite for every Grade 12 mathematics course universities require.
What MPM2D covers
- Linear systems and methods of solution
- Analytic geometry
- Quadratic relations and their graphs
- Factoring and quadratic equations
- Similar triangles and trigonometry of right triangles
Prerequisite
Grade 9 de-streamed mathematics (MTH1W)
Where the marks go
Factoring and quadratics. Students who leave Grade 10 without fluent factoring find Grade 11 functions almost impossible, because every unit assumes it.
How we teach MPM2D
A weekly 60-minute live class with a batch of three students, all taking MPM2D and all at roughly the same point in it. We follow the Ontario school calendar, so the class covers the unit your child’s teacher is covering. Cadence doubles in the four weeks before a final.
How it works
Four steps, one week.
