Grade 12 · Ontario curriculum
SCH4U tutoring — Chemistry
SCH4U is required for engineering, medicine, pharmacy and life sciences, and it carries one of the heaviest content loads of any Grade 12 course. Students who coasted through SCH3U tend to struggle immediately.
What SCH4U covers
- Organic chemistry: structure, nomenclature and reactions
- Atomic structure and bonding theory
- Energy changes and rates of reaction
- Chemical systems and equilibrium
- Electrochemistry
Prerequisite
SCH3U
Where the marks go
Equilibrium and organic chemistry. Equilibrium problems demand careful ICE-table work under time pressure. Organic chemistry is a memory and pattern subject that rewards spaced repetition and punishes cramming.
How we teach SCH4U
A weekly 60-minute live class with a batch of three students, all taking SCH4U and all at roughly the same point in it. We follow the Ontario school calendar, so the class covers the unit your child’s teacher is covering. Cadence doubles in the four weeks before a final.
How it works
Four steps, one week.
