Academy X Canada Free trial class

Questions

Everything parents ask us.

If yours isn’t here, call +1 437-299-5991 or message us on WhatsApp — a person answers.

Is the trial class genuinely free?

Yes. No credit card is required to book, there is nothing to cancel, and the written diagnostic is sent whether or not you continue with us.

What happens in the trial class?

A real 40-minute lesson with a real class, on the unit your child's school is covering right now. The teacher knows a trial student is joining and will check in with them, but it is not a demonstration - the other students are there to learn.

Will my child be behind everyone else?

We place students by course and current unit, not by ability, so everyone in the room is working on the same material. The self-evaluation you give us when booking decides which of our classes in that course is the right fit.

We don't know the course code. Is that a problem?

No. Select the grade on the booking form and choose 'Not sure which course', or send a photo of the timetable on WhatsApp and we will identify it.

How big are the classes?

Three students maximum. One-to-one is available where a student genuinely needs it, and we will tell you honestly which we think is right after the trial.

Who teaches the classes?

Every class is taught by a subject specialist assigned to that specific Ontario course, who stays with it rather than rotating between subjects. If you would like to know the background of the teacher assigned to your child, ask us and we will tell you.

Do you grant OSSD credits?

No. Academy X Canada is a tutoring academy - your child earns their credits at their own school. We are here to make sure they earn better ones.

Do you tutor IB as well as the Ontario curriculum?

Yes. IB subject teaching at HL and SL, plus Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. Ontario IB students are also completing OSSD requirements and we support that side too.

What is the Top 6 and why does it matter?

Ontario university admission is based on a student's best six Grade 12 U and M course marks. Offers are frequently conditional on holding that average through final marks, which is why a soft Grade 12 result matters more than any earlier mark.

Can you help with OSSLT preparation?

Yes, and it is included at no extra cost for Grade 10 students enrolled with us.

Do you offer in-person tutoring?

Our classes are live and online. For most families that removes a weeknight drive across the GTA without reducing the quality of the teaching.

When do classes run?

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings, on Eastern Time, scheduled around the school day.

How do I know it's working?

Progress reports every six weeks, sent to you rather than only to your child, alongside the marks coming back from school.

Can we pause or stop?

Yes. There is no contract. Cancel with two weeks' notice.

Do you promise a specific mark increase?

No, and be cautious of anyone who does. We will tell you honestly after the diagnostic what we think is achievable in the time available.
